Established profession and degree educated
Physiotherapists help people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice.
They are governed by the Charted Society of Physiotherapists, which was founded in 1894.
They maintain health for people of all ages, helping patients to manage pain and prevent disease.
The profession helps to encourage development and facilitate recovery, enabling people to stay in work while helping them to remain independent for as long as possible.
Physiotherapy is a degree-based healthcare profession. Physios use their knowledge and skills to improve a range of conditions associated with different systems of the body, such as:
- Neurological (stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s)
- Neuromusculoskeletal (back pain, whiplash associated disorder, sports injuries, arthritis)
- Cardiovascular (chronic heart disease, rehabilitation after heart attack)
- Respiratory (asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis).
This multidisciplinary approach is at the heart of our service here at Body Consultancy. In addition to Physiotherapy expertise, we also have professionally qualified Chiropractors, Sports Therapists, Massage Therapists and Osteopaths. Your Physiotherapist may refer you, with your consent, to another practitioner within our clinic if required. We also have an excellent relationship with local consultants and surgeons.
When you visit your Body Consultancy Therapist it’s important to remember that there is no such thing as a standard treatment. We use many forms of therapy, and it will be individual to you. You will always benefit most from an individual treatment plan tailored specifically to your exact needs. We ensure that the focus of the plan is to return you to your full potential as quickly as possible. The old saying that “Prevention is better than cure” is very much a core philosophy of all our therapies in general and of Body Consultancy in particular. The quicker you receive the correct treatment the easier it is to reduce future problems.
Prolonged pain with no specific onset should always be investigated further. This is because many illnesses first show up as aches and pains. Body Consultancy Practitioners are fully trained to screen for any serious disease.
