I joined Body Consultancy as an Osteopath in 2014.  I have a broad base of knowledge, which is important as I see a wide range of patients. Many of my patients have had chronic pain, with tense muscles and so I use a lot of soft tissue work and mobilisations.
It is important to get to the root of the problem; if someone has a back problem I may look at their feet and how they are functioning through to their knees and hips for instance.  It is also good to know what that person does, for example, if they play sport, or if they are knitting all the time they may not be using their shoulder correctly.  The work is ‘holistic’ in the sense that I look at how the whole body functions as a unit.
I studied for four years at Swansea University and graduated in 2014 with an Integrated Masters in Osteopathy before setting up my own practice and then joining Body Consultancy. I’m extremely interested in working with children and with continuing my Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in paediatrics. Currently, I treat patients from the age of six and I’m looking forward to working more with children, including new-borns.  I’m always looking to find innovative ways to encourage children to exercise and to involve the parents in this as well.
I have a range of post graduate CPD qualifications, including medical acupuncture and have attended Dr McGill’s ’ building the ultimate back for athletes’ programme’. I also trained as a Pilates teacher and now teach Pilates classes and functional fitness classes for the over 60’s.
In my free time, I enjoy swimming, going to the gym, playing squash, running and I am taking part in a 100k walk in the summer. Living by the beach gives me chance to paddle board and I also enjoy travelling and have recently visited South America.

I am Managing Director and lead practitioner and the principal tenet running through my work and that of Body Consultancy is ”Quality in movement, quality in life’’. I give people the tools to manage their problem, and in the long-term, I help them adjust their movement patterns to rectify the underlying issues. My area of special interest is spinal stability and control, and how this relates to spinal and extremity injuries.
I was inspired to change careers after a car accident left me with a chronic back problem and I consulted a chiropractor, who advised and treated me.  Impressed with the treatment, I went on to study at The Welsh Institute of Chiropractic (affiliated with Glamorgan University) and graduated in 2002 with a BSc (Hons) in Chiropractic.
Upon graduation I immediately started practising with Body Consultancy, the company I founded. This has now expanded into a highly successful practice and we have opened clinics in Verwood, Highcliffe, Christchurch and Portchester.
I also worked with A.F.C. Bournemouth for more than eleven years as their chiropractor and for two years I was part of the premier league medical team as the first team chiropractor. I currently still treat several of the players and staff.
I aim to be constantly improving the treatments I can offer, to be at the leading edge of chiropractic and rehabilitation care, and I continue to study and train.  I have a range of post graduate CPD (Continuing Professional Development) qualifications, including medical acupuncture and I am a certified trainer in Dynamic Neuro-muscular Stabilisation.
My personal ethos is fundamentally a determination to do the right thing. I see myself as a teacher, working in partnership with my patients and I try to combine this with professionalism and good humour.
In my downtime I enjoy outdoor pursuits and sport. I played hockey for 25 years and play golf, climb mountains and enjoy water-sports. I’m now looking forward to exploring various outdoor activities as a family with my partner and children.

I am Clinic Director and chiropractor at Body Consultancy. I very much enjoy treating patients and working with them towards their goals, whether playing football with their grandchildren, or in helping them get back to playing a team sport. My aim is to present an all-round professional, knowledgeable environment for patients, so that they feel ‘’they are in the right place’’.

Education is key to working with patients.  The pain can go, but if the aggravating factor is still there, the patient may be back again with pain.  It’s about retraining the motor patterns to reduce the chance of that happening.

Prior to joining Body Consultancy, I worked as an associate chiropractor for thirteen years in Newcastle. Moving south I then set up my own practice in Portchester, which I built up over a period of three years.  During this time, I was also invited to help at Body Consultancy. Subsequently, I became a partner with Mark and the Portchester clinic is now under the umbrella of Body Consultancy.

Before training and working in Chiropractic, I graduated from the University of the West of England, Bristol in 1992 with a BSc (Hons) in Applied Biological Sciences, specialising in human physiology, medical microbiology and haematology.  After leaving university, I worked for a couple of years and then spent time travelling round the world. After returning to the UK, I went on to study at The Welsh Institute of Chiropractic, where I graduated in 2002 with a BSc (Hons) in Chiropractic.

I’m constantly updating my skills and knowledge and I complete a minimum of thirty hours of CPD a year to ensure that I’m up to date. I also sit on the BCA Professional Standards Committee.

When not at work, I enjoy kite-surfing and road cycling.  This summer I’m taking part in Raid Alpine, a 740km bike ride over the Alps from Geneva to Nice.  I also have a motor bike and am very happy to spend time ‘spannering’.
